Plane carrying Malawi’s Vice President goes Missing

The plane carrying the vice president of Malawi Saulos Klaus Chilima, along with nine others, has gone missing. 24 hours have elapsed, and as per the latest updates, there is still no trace of the missing aircraft.

Vice President Chilima was en route to the northern region of Malawi when the plane was forced to turn back to Lilongwe due to adverse weather conditions. However, upon diverting back to Lilongwe, the aircraft reportedly lost contact in the dense forest of Chikangawa.

The president has instructed all state agencies to conduct a thorough search for the missing plane until it is located. Despite these efforts, there is currently no trace of the aircraft. The Malawian government has reached out to neighboring countries for assistance, with the United States being one of the first to respond by dispatching a C-12 aircraft from the US Department of Defense to aid in the search for the missing plane carrying Vice President Saulos Chilima and the other passengers.

Vice President Chilima was traveling to attend the funeral of Ralph Kasambara. In a report by Zodiak, the Special Advisor to the President on Religious Affairs, Rev. Brian Kamwendo, has urged all religious leaders in the country to unite in prayer for the safe return of Vice President Chilima. Kamwendo’s statement, released today, calls for religious leaders to coordinate special prayer sessions within their congregations, starting tomorrow morning, to pray for Chilima’s well-being.
